I am the first atom at the tip of the spear. The most major miner and the manliest man’s man there is. I am the ingrown toenail of every creepy crawly that keeps them awake at night. I am the Deep Rock Galactic: Scout Bat-Dwarf… Also known as the Scout…

What makes the Scout stand out is his ability to use a grappling hook to get from point A to D while skipping B and C. Spotting and marking interesting stuff on route for your underlings… erm… coworkers to go mine. Every now and then you’ll need to get your pickaxe dirty as well since your so-called ‘teammates’ won’t be able to get to the places you do. Definitely not as quickly as you can at least.
Other than moving around quickly, the grappling hook is also useful in battles. You can zip by enemies and outflank them, or keep a big crawly busy by letting it follow you and then zipping away just before it catches up to you.

Where the sun don’t shine
Being cast down from heaven into the darkness, it’s fitting that the scout is also the light bringer. His other ability is his flare gun, which shoots out flares over long distances. It illuminates large areas of caves for everyone to see, making it easier to spot enemies and minerals. These flares are brighter and last longer than the standard hand-thrown flares every dwarf comes equipped with. However, they are limited resources and need to be filled up at weapon drops.
The flares also provide other miners with the opportunity to thank you for being so graceful in providing light for them.

The Burden of being Wonderful
As a high-flier and a fast mover, the scout tends to fall to his death. The one perk every scout needs to get is the Hover boots perk. It allows you to hover for a few seconds giving you time to find another spot to land.
And since you have the ability to get to places the mud crawlers can’t, you’ll sometimes find yourself dying at hard to reach places. Your friends will love you for it since it gives them the opportunity to solve the interesting problem of getting to you while fighting off hordes of creepy crawlies.

The only good bug is a dead bug

Weapons
Deepcore GK2
You start out with the Deepcore GK2 assault rifle. It has a decent rate of fire and decent range. All round good weapons.

| Damage | 15 Kinetic |
| Weakpoint Stun Duration | 1.5s |
| Magazine Size | 25 |
| Max Ammo | 375 |
| Rate of Fire (per second) | 7 |
| Reload Time | 1.8s |
| Weakpoint Stun Chance | 10% |
| Weakpoint Damage Bonus | 10% |
M1000 Classic
The next primary is the M1000 Classic, semi auto rifle. Basically this game’s version of a sniper rifle. Big damage, but small clip size. You can also charge up the gun for extra damage. This was my least favorite since it did not do well in crowd control.

| Damage | 55 Kinetic |
| Magazine Size | 8 |
| Max Ammo | 96 |
| Rate of Fire (per second) | 4 |
| Reload Time | 2.5s |
| Focused Shot Damage Bonus | +100% |
| Armor Breaking | 30% |
| Focus Mode Movement Speed | 30% |
DRAK-25 Plasma
The DRAK-25 Plasma Carbine is the third unlock. It’s fully auto and you don’t need to swap out magazines. It does overheat though if you don’t give it a chance to breathe, which is where the secondary weapons come in.

| Damage | 9 |
| Max Battery | 800 |
| Rate of Fire (per second) | 13 |
| Armor Breaking | 100% |
| Overheat Duration | 2.5 |
| Cooldown Delay | 0.3 |
The Jury-Rigged Boomstick is a double barrel shotgun and the secondary you start with. Short range, but big damage.
The Zhukov NUK17 you can unlock and is for you John Woo loving, duel-wielding enthusiasts. They run out of ammo quickly, but your Plasma Carbine should be cool by then.
There are a total of three grenades types at your disposal after upgrades. The inhibitor Field one, slows down the enemies and is the one you start out with. The Cryo-grenade you unlock next and as the name implies, freezes the bugs. Lastly there is the Phermone Canister. It will make the uglies fight each other for a short period of time. Good for when you are getting swarmed and need a breather.
Conclusion
I’m hard as a rock…and I’m getting harder baby, Deep Rock Galactic: Scout Bat-Dwarf FTW!
All the series and all the movies couldn't put society back together again.
